Camping at Mermaid Falls

We've spoken of camping at Mermaid Falls for years so it was wonderful to finally do it. We slept under an overhang. We'd checked and there was no fire ban so we built a little fire after dark to cook our sausages. Suddenly there was a mighty whirring sound and three large drones descended from the sky and circled directly above us.  Gavin, who hates being in trouble with the authorities, was an immediate wreck. We checked the fire situation and had not got it wrong. After a few minutes, the drones disappeared into the sky and never heard from them again. What a weird experience!  Goes to show, there's no more privacy, even in the remote wild.

Abseiling in Serendipity Canyon, Mount Wilson

Srini taught us to abseil in one of the Blue Mountain's more extreme canyons. I was a lot less scared than I thought I would be, though there were a couple of uneasy moments when I relied on the others to tell me where to put my footing. All in all, it was a wonderful adventure.

Comedy Club and Mardis Gras

We went to the Comedy Club in The Entertainment Quarter, then walked to the Mardis Gras festivities and danced in the crowd. Lots of nudity and raucous goings on on display.  A lot of fun!
